Nurse’s costumes are tops when it comes to fantasy costumes.. A recent survey found that nurses are one of the  most sexually fantasized about profession. Over 50%  of  men surveyed said they fantasize about nurses. I guess that means that nurse costumes should be at the top of their Valentine's Day wish list!

This popular fantasy for men is  probably due, in part, to the portrayal of nurses in the days of vaudeville. A sexy nurse was used many times as one of vaudeville's common running gags. Much like today’s nurses costumes; the actresses would wear a low-cut, sexually suggestive version of a standard nurse uniform. When she entered the room, the men on stage would holler "Hello, nurse!" as a catcall.

When you think of a nurse in a sexy costumes you probably think of the classic version with a tight white mini-dress, a white nurse’s hat, fishnet stockings, high heels and a stethoscope.

Most nurse’s costumes are white and trimmed with red. They generally feature a red cross on the front of the uniform and/or on the hat. In recent years the costume industry has branched out into Gothic and Fetishwear style nurses costumes also. These have quickly become a favorite among role players in fantasy lingerie. As with most fantasy costumes,  nurses are either naughty or nice. These newer Gothic and Fetish nurse’s costumes don’t necessarily fit that mold however. They can be dark and seductively evil.

Instead of white cotton like the typical nurse’s costume,  Gothic nurse’s costumes are usually made from darker color materials like leather, PVC and rubber.  They usually feature some type of Gothic detail, such as corsets, chains, and metal rings. Instead of the typical high heels the Gothic costumes sometimes use knee high black boots or black thigh high boots with high platforms.  And of course, the fishnet stockings are usually black instead of white.

Nurses costumes aren't the only costumes in the medical profession with sex appeal.  Today’s costumes might include doctors, surgeons, dental assistants and even pharmacists.

No matter which style of nurse’s costume you like,  the survey definitely shows that nurse’s costumes are a definite must have in your fantasy lingerie collection.

Not surprisingly, french maid costumes came in a close second place in the survey. Over  40% of the men surveyed said it was the profession they fantasize about most.  French maids have been a symbol of sex for a  long time. Just like with the nurses, there are historical roots to this fantasy.

The typical french maid costume is a black dress trimmed in white ruffle with an apron.  This design comes from the costumes worn by actresses playing nurses in the burlesque days. Burlesque shows were know for being sexual in nature and the French maids were a commonplace staple of these shows.  These shows always would set the stage for a sexual encounter with the caricature of a household  helper.  Over the years this fantasy has grown to be one of the most popular fantasies among men.

Fantasy costumes can be about as revealing as you like. Feeling really daring?  Try a french maid costume made completely from a sheer fabric.  They usually have the same style and colors as the typical French maid costume but they are see through much like the sexy lingerie for the daring.

And don’t forget the feather duster!  Even if you don’t do any cleaning, you will have fun.
